Umm... yeah, Otakon was last week...

What's with all the people searching for Saikano images on my site all of a sudden? All I ever posted were photos of the limited edition game package, and you can find better pics of that anywhere else.

Anyways, I have to be at work in about an hour, but I'm going to see if I can get the events of the past week summarized before then. I'll probably have to stop in the middle and finish later. (Right now I have a free moment, as Curtis and Laura have gone into DC somewhere to do the touristing thing.)

It's long, so I'm going to make you click-through to see it. Even though I only got through Friday's events. I'll get to the rest later. And remember, you can see my pictures of Otakon in the gallery!

Friday

So, after the previously chronicled screwed up Thursday events, we drove back into Baltimore early Friday morning. Naturally, I felt like crap since I got some 3 hours of sleep. We dropped off Curtis and Laura outside the Bank of America building so they could get some cash and get into the already-too-long at-the-door registration line, checked in all of our luggage at the Hyatt, then went to park in the Arena garage. After that, there wasn't much else to do but just go into the convention ourselves, since we already had our badges from the previous night.

The first thing we did, because we could, was get stickered for the L'arc concert. As most people were still trapped in the registration lines, it didn't take more than 20 or so minutes to get through it. With absolutely nothing else to do on the schedule, we ended up going into one of the video rooms to watch Boboboobo Boobobo, and then Dr. Rin ni Kiite Mite right after that. (I like how the video rooms were cutting off whatever was playing right on the hour, no matter what the schedule claimed was going to be shown. So, instead of 2 eps of Boobobo and 3 eps of Dr. Rin, we got 2 full episodes and part of a 3rd episode of each.) As we were watching, Curtis and Laura had completed both the registration and stickering lines, and Kevin had gotten out of the pre-reg line, so they both met up with us in the video room. Here, we find out we won't have internet access for the weekend because the BCC charges $9.95 an HOUR for their wireless access. There was no getting on from the hotel either, as they didn't have an ethernet network nor a wireless signal.

We also started the streak of Curtis telling me to take pictures of cosplayers they see, because there really aren't that many costumes that I recognize and/or like enough to take pictures of myself. I'm also lazy, so I don't really take my camera out too often. So, yeah, Curtis is the reason why my Otakon gallery this year is twice as large as the one last year. ^^;

Can't really remember much of what else happened on Friday afternoon... we did our first dealer's room visit, kinda got separated and couldn't re-combine because certain people in our group don't have cell phones, and marvelled at the complete stupidity in the scheduling. There was -nothing- to do. So, we ended up back at the Hyatt for the 3rd or so time asking if we could check in. This obviously means we lounged on the couches for a while poking Kevin until we convinced him to walk downstairs and ask them again if the room was ready. (He was convinced they would call him back when the room was ready, as that was apparently what the previous lady at the desk told him. Obviously, they never called.) As we finally had a room, we gave the room number to a bellhop so we could reclaim our cart of luggage from baggage check, and settled into what would be our room for the next two nights. It was a bit smaller than the room at the Rennaisance, but it still had a decent amount of floorspace. It was probably a tiny bit smaller than the room I had at the Hyatt last year.

One of the first things I looked at, naturally, was the TV - and it had front a/v inputs! And, even if those didn't work (and we confirmed they did relatively quick), the RF cables in the back weren't braced shut. So, consolage was a go!

Anyways, we were finally able to get some of our foodstuffs out of the cooler that was checked with the hotel, so we ate some sandwiches and stuff before we had to head back to the dealer's room for the angela autograph signing I had found out about from my earlier visit to the Geneon booth. By the time we got back, Omo had already gotten his signature and was sitting at the concert line. We got into the autograph line (which was rather short, presumably because people didn't really know about the session) to get stuff signed. In order to get multiple autographs, I had given Laura my copy of The End of The World single. It turns out, we were told before we reached the front of the line that they would sign multiple items for anyone, and I could have the entire contents of my bag signed if I so desired. o.O As that would be kinda unfair to the rest of the line, I limit myself to getting sora no koe (their first commercial album) and asu e no Brilliant Road (their first single, and Stellvia's OP) signed. So, I got 3 autographs instead of the planned 2. Works fine for me. ^^; I considered going back and getting their indies album signed, but didn't really have the time, and I wasn't sure how Geneon and the group themselves would have reacted to seeing that. ^^;;

After we were all set there, we headed over to the concert line. It was still early, so there weren't too many people there, but Omo was still pretty decently ahead of us. (He ended up getting seated a row or two in front of us.) I spent the wait getting through some more levels in Rockman/Megaman Zero 2. Jeff and Cav arrive at some point to retrieve their room key (as they hadn't been to the room at all yet), then ended up entering the line at the end as a staffer was watching very closely for line-hoppers. In the end, I don't think it made a difference, as anyone who wanted to walk into the angela concert got in anyways. The concert itself was great - I actually hadn't heard more than a couple of their songs, but I had already decided I liked them a lot, and the concert only reaffirmed that.

After the concert... I can't remember what else I did, other than eat dinner at the Harborplace's Japanese type place with Kevin and his cousins. We probably visited the game room for a bit, too... (If I remember what else happened, I'll update this later. For now, off to work.)
